The Coubrough/Cowbrough Internation Family Reunion has
returned to its roots. The first ever Reunion, held in Kingston,
Ontario, Canada in August 2001, went so well that a second one followed in
April 2003, in Katikati, New Zealand. Sadly, many people were not able to
join us at either party, much as they may have wanted to. Luckily,
both previous editions went so well that another has been planned for the
summer of 2005, in "the Homeland." Hope you can join us in
Scotland for the social event of the year.
When: August 8 - 10, 2005 (Monday
through Wednesday)
Where: Lesser Albert Hall, Stirling, Stirling, Scotland
The Lesser Hall of the Albert Halls is located at the junction of
Albert Place, Dumbarton Road, and Corn Exchange Road.
Who: All Coubroughs, Cowbroughs,
their descendants, their ancestors, their friends, anyone who has a
Coubrough or Cowbrough anywhere in their family tree and anyone who
admits to even knowing a Coubrough. No matter how you spell your
Coubrough name, we want to meet you!
What: The plan is for three days of informal visiting in the
Lesser Albert Hall, in Stirling, with displays of local history, and of
course, family history, old photographs, family trees, etc. Don't forget
to bring your own family photos, and stories. (Please have copies made of
old photos; we don't want to risk loss or damage of your precious
originals.) There is the possibility of a local history tour, and short
presentations by local historians.
Meals will be available ("pay as you go") from an
on-site restaurant, though there is a grande finale dinner and Ceilidh
planned for the Wednesday afternoon/evening.
There is plenty of hotel and bed & breakfast accommodation
available, with party-goers responsible for their own arrangements. Have a
look at the town's web site www.instirling.com
for more information. Be sure to book early:
Stirling's accommodations fill up fast in summer.
How much: The registration fee will
be 50 Great Britain pounds per person
for the three days of the event. Or, you may choose to attend on only one
or two days, at 25 pounds per day, to a maximum of 50 pounds.
Children under 16 will be admitted free if accompanied by an adult. The
registration fee includes the cost of renting the
facility, displays, adminstrative costs, farewell dinner, etc.
Plans are in the works for a direct-deposit account at HSBC, so watch
here for updates. In the meantime, please contact me directly if you have
any questions.
